Shift Left is a specific approach within IT development where security is pushed more to the 'left' in the SDLC. This means that testing, securing and assurance is done earlier so the development team can detect and fix issues earlier.
Detecting and fixing issues earlier will reduce cost, increase the quality and make the product more secure.
